Section C Ob"ectives and activities The purpose of Scouting is to contribule to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential- as individuals. as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and intemational communities. Summary of the objects of the charity Set out in its governing document We deliver inspiring activities and programmes for young people consistent with our vision of Scouting being shaped by young people in partnership with adults. We deliver the nationally directed programme of development for Beaver Scouts. Cub Scouts and Scouts, including Skills for Life. Summary of the maln activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this soction the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) The Group's Trustees have a duty to report on the Group's public benefit in the Annual Report. We have assessed our aims, objectives and actiwties and believe we have met the Charity Commission'5 public benefit criteria for both the advancement of education and the advancement of citizenship or community development. The Group is reviewing its policy on Grant Making in order to review support offered to Members in attending Scouting events. Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year The Year 21122 was significantly affected by Lockdown and Nervousness in relation to Covid19 throughout the year, as a result normal activities undertaken by the scout group were not possible. Online Meetings were held by all sections during the early part of the year with groups Starting to meet outdoors again once restriction5 were lifted and the scout assorAated moved to a yellow status. Normal fundraising 8nd social activities were difficult to plan throughout the period and the group AGM which nomally allows all members and helpers to gather was delayed until later in the year. In past years the AGM has been held during Family Camp, unfortunately due to the uncertainty around Covid and lack of qualified helpers il was not possible to run this evenl.. however a very successful activity day was run instead allowing for social gathering and the running of scouting acts'vities for all Ihe family. Some Highlights of the year from each section in addition to regular scouting activities= Beavers had a night away camp, attended Remembrance Sunday, welcomed Berkshire Reptiles to Earley and went ten-pin bowling. Cubs went to Summer Camp in the New Forest and had a back to basics camp in October and a Winter Camp at the Youlbury Activity Centre in January. In March a night was spent on the Golden Hinde in London. Seascouts activities knots, first aid, ironing neckers, outdoor games, learning about Baden-Powell. badge work and fvn challenges. Scouts began training on outdoor and sutvival skills such as fire lighting, tent pitching, knife, axe & saw skills. In September Ihe scouts were put in patrols and given all their equipment & food to 'survive" for 30 hours. This involved sleeping in shelters. cooking on open fires and using teamwork and knowledge to succeed. The G8t Breakfast Chase district competition camp in October saw the scouts work in teams to complete a night hike around Slough countryside with checkpoints & challenges along Ihe way. Great teamwork was shown by all who attended, with one team coming a close 2nd out of over 15 teams.

In addition, we make specific reserves for larger items, e.g. minibus. 5 yearfy inlemational WINGS camp. property repairs and equipment. We levy a membership subscription for each child member of the Group and we charge for adventurous activities such as camps. We run nonnally run two main fundraising activities during the year however during the year 21122 it was not possible to run fund raising events due to Covid 19. As a result of Covid and not being able to operate as nom)al throughout the year the Scoul Group was successful in its application for a National Lockdown Grant otherwise known as LRSG (Closed) Addendum scheme Grant. Gift Aid was reclaimed during the year on Subscriptions paid by the membership. Our expenditure is on maintaining the assets of the charity (buildings, minibus, and camping equipment)- our fees due lo the Scout Association, Berkshire Scout County and Loddon Scout District.. and on activities and hall hire.
