Achievements and performance
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
The Year 21122 was significantly affected by Lockdown and Nervousness
in relation to Covid19 throughout the year, as a result normal activities
undertaken by the scout group were not possible.
Online Meetings were held by all sections during the early part of the
year with groups Starting to meet outdoors again once restriction5 were
lifted and the scout assorAated moved to a yellow status.
Normal fundraising 8nd social activities were difficult to plan throughout
the period and the group AGM which nomally allows all members and
helpers to gather was delayed until later in the year.
In past years the AGM has been held during Family Camp, unfortunately
due to the uncertainty around Covid and lack of qualified helpers il was
not possible to run this evenl.. however a very successful activity day was
run instead allowing for social gathering and the running of scouting
acts'vities for all Ihe family.
Some Highlights of the year from each section in addition to regular
scouting activities=
Beavers had a night away camp, attended Remembrance Sunday,
welcomed Berkshire Reptiles to Earley and went ten-pin bowling.
Cubs went to Summer Camp in the New Forest and had a back to basics
camp in October and a Winter Camp at the Youlbury Activity Centre in
January. In March a night was spent on the Golden Hinde in London.
Seascouts activities knots, first aid, ironing neckers, outdoor games,
learning about Baden-Powell. badge work and fvn challenges.
Scouts began training on outdoor and sutvival skills such as fire lighting,
tent pitching, knife, axe & saw skills. In September Ihe scouts were put in
patrols and given all their equipment & food to 'survive" for 30 hours. This
involved sleeping in shelters. cooking on open fires and using teamwork
and knowledge to succeed. The G￿8t Breakfast Chase district
competition camp in October saw the scouts work in teams to complete a
night hike around Slough countryside with checkpoints & challenges
along Ihe way. Great teamwork was shown by all who attended, with one
team coming a close 2nd out of over 15 teams.
