Obje¢ts Polieies and Organisation The Trust is established to provide and maintain the Community Centre for th¢ b¢nefit of the inhabitants of Langham, without distinction of p)litical. ￿li￿OuS or other opinions, with the obj¢ct of improving thc quality of life of thc inhabitants. The Centre is available for hire by any individual or organisation in accordance with the standard hiring agrecm¢nt and scalc of charges adopted for the year. It is intended that the 8cal¢ is suftTi¢i¢nt to generate cnough I￿ANne to mect the ordinary expenditure incurred in providing the Cenlre. Our outgoings on regular maintenance and staff salartes are constsnily increasing and the price of electricity has been very high. At Carol'5 sUgg￿tion. She has sct up a SAGE accounting pro8T8mme lo deal with invoices and payments more ¢ffi¢i¢ntly. We have had to chase the hirer for yyymeni ihis year but all, with one exceptio apologiscd and pmid in full. Sadly. a Court order had to k Taised against a thir￿ under which the first instalmcnt paid l&st month. Anothcr dIsap￿Intment was the lack of volunteers ai our King's Volunteering OF￿ morning in the Club Room on 13 May, when seven villag¢ organisations canvassed for MO￿ assistsnce and fewer than ten members of the public attend¢& on¢ or two of whom did sign up. Without a supply of willing hands, we cannot keep village amenities going. L(Kal regular hires conlinuc to make up bulk of our income, ￿1¢h is pleasin& and we have thre¢ football t￿nS on th¢ field over weekends. The I￿ekeeperS are regular visitors lo the Hall, as are various exercise groups. The monthly CommuDity Café 15 b¢coming busier and Langh2m Film Nights has run some well-suptK)rted evenings. including a sold-out ,￿pp¢nhcImer- in March. We need to incre&se sales of100 Club lottery membership to bring this up to its maximum.

Th¢ LCC host¢d a UKPN Pylon m¢¢ting (with a s¢cond in May 2024) and a m¢¢ting with Anglian Water in February attended by MP. Bernard Jenkin. when the Parish Council confronted AW once again with the ongoing flooding problems in the village. The Hall was the venue for a very $￿ceSsful Coronation musical afternoon tea on 6 May 2023, organised by the Community Shop in conjunction with The Oaks Sch(M)l. The evening's ewents on the fleld. organised by the Parish Council. were enjoyed by a hardy group of villag¢rJ undaunted by thc rain. which also affcct¢d Bonfire Night c¢l¢brations in November. S tions 106 Ikvclo r contrib On th¢ Streft￿h of S¢¢tion 106 FMymMts. acoustic were fitted in th¢ main h811 in December and have drarnaiically improved the sound quality by reducing echo. S.106 also provided a slairlift io Committee Room fitted in NovemEw to make it accessible for those with reduced mobility. Peter Dawson. in his rolc as First Reswnder. has kindly agreed to provid¢ som¢ evacuation ¢hwr traimng. which is b¢ing organised. We have begun to fit LED lightin8 throughout the LCC building. which should reduce our electricity usage. prow3ed new disabled toild continues to face delays owing to St￿lfiCatIon concerns. We hope to bc ablc to comm¢nce thcs¢ works very shortly. W¢ ar¢ cxtr¢mely grnt¢ful to the Pan'sh Council, and to Martin Bottwood in Wicular, for his tireless efforts to obthin th¢ monies from Colchester City Council. I would like to thank all Trustces for their invaluable ¢ofttributions to the nmning of Langharn Communiry Centre. During the year Rosie Helliwell retired from the Bridge Club and David Druitt took her place as Trustee in (ktokn. Mark Kleingeld retired after many year, service T¢nni3 Club TCP. H¢ wa3 r¢placd in F¢bruary by Stuart Rudge. Sinrx the dernise of Pat¢hwork Pals w¢ have oft the LCC Governing body for another local organisation to Join us with an appointed Trustee. There is also a vacancy for a Parochial Church Council rcpresentalive. Carol Lloyd has had a very busy year getting to know her way around tk many and various duties which fall to the of comme￿ial and Marketing Mawer. She has been ably assisted by Cheryl Williams. who does so much work behind the s¢encs and is little known to cv¢n 50m¢ of our rcgular kn.￿[5. Wc v¢ry grat¢ful to them both. They have 50 many tasks to cover between them that it has been a mammoth tssk to draw up Job Specifications and new contracts this year. Maur¢¢n Shouksmith has been our Treasu￿ for eight years. having answered an SOS in 2016, and is now retiring. Durin8 that ts'me she has had to learn new skills. particularly in IT, and taken some of the Workload from both Secretary and Ch8iTman. This year she S￿nt many hours working on U￿latiftg staff cL)ntra¢ts. She has always k¢pt the LCC'S financial r￿OrdS upto-date and aKurate, wkn.ch has eased the work of our Indep￿dent Examiner and completion of the annual relum lo the Charity Commission. We ho￿ she has time to devote herself to her large family while enjoying some well-deserved rest and relaxation. W¢ hav¢ 5p¢nt our sKond y¢ar without an electcd Secretsry. while Liz Winter has continued lo take and disseminate minutes and has fallen back into the role in an "acting" capacity as Trustee. This is not ideal and we are concerned aknut the difficulty of finding replacement otYic¢ts wh¢n thcy aTC r¢quir¢d.
