GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT (continued) Management Arrangements The Trustees meet half yearly to monitor the activities of the Charity. including the investment pei'formance. The day to day administration of the Charity is undertaken by external professional firnis. Rlsk Management The Trustees ¢ontinually review the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to the finances of the charity and are salisfi¢d tliat Sy5terns are in place to mitigate their exposure lo major risk. The Jnajor risk of the charity is its investment portfolio risk, which is mitigat¢d by biannual meetings with the InvestTnent Managers. OBJEcfs AND ACTIVITIES Objects of the ChATity The obj¢¢l of the charity is the making of grants to charitable causes chosen by the trustees at their absolute dis¢retion. ObJectiVe8 for the Year The objectives for the year were- To continue to tnake grants to charitable organisalions. To monitor the income of the Charity whilst monitoring the financial markets. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Achievement of Objective5 and Public Benefit The Charity continued to provide grants to worthy organisations. In the year this amounted to 302 grants tolalling £91,900 (2024.. £95,200). This included many medical and relief of poverty charities and th¢s¢ are disclosed in the Notes lo the Accounts (pages l O- 16). Many of the organisations concemed are grateful to rec¢ive the grants, and the Charity received many letters of thanks. In plaming the activities for the year the Trustees have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's guidan¢e on public b¢nefil. In particular the Trustees considered how planned activities contribute to the aims and objectives of the Charity and are satisfied that this is the ¢ase. Grant MaklnE Policies Grant applications are reviewed to ensure they comply with the requirements of th¢ Charity and the Trustees auihorise payment through a third party.

In the year the Charity received donations of £35.585 and investment income and bank interest of £53.553 and expended £124,501 resulting in net expenditure for the period of £31,128 after realised gains and unreali5ed losses on invesÉments of £4.235. The Charity saw the market value of investtnenls decr¢8s¢ during the year from £1,282.887 to £1.258.707. Reserves Policy The Trustees maintain suffi¢i¢nl reserves in the Income Fund lo meet expected direct charitable expenditure. The Capital Fund is invested to produce income for the Income Fund. FUTURE ACTIVITIES The Charity will continue to generate income to make grants lo charitable bodies. STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES Law applicable to charities in Bngland and Wales requires the Trust¢es to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the slate of the charity's financial activities during the year and of ils financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial statements* giving a tru¢ and fair view, the Iru5tees should follow best pra¢lice and.. select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistendy.. make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial sl&1ementS' prepare financial statements on the going con¢ern basi5 unless it is inappropriate to presume th8t the Charity will continue to operate. The Trustees are responsible for keeping pi'oper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time th¢ financial position of the Charity and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements omply with relevant legislation and the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prev¢ntion and detecfion of fraud and other irj'egularities. ACCOUNTING POLICIES a) Ba5i$ of Preparation and Assessment of going concern The accounts have b¢¢n prepared under the historical cost convention with the exception of investments which are included at market valu¢. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practi¢¢.' A¢counting and Reporting by ChaTjtie5 pirpai'ing their aceollnts in a¢¢ordance with the Financial Reporting Standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (Second Edition issued in O¢tob¢r 20191 and the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the Unit¢d Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Charities Act 2011. The accounts hav¢ bc¢n prepared to give a 'true and fair view, and have departed from th¢ Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulation5 2008 only to the extent required to provide a 'true and fair view,. This departure involved following Accounting and Reporting by Chai'ili¢s prepai'ing their accounts in ae¢ordance with the Financial Reporting standal applicable in the UK and Republio of Ireland (FRS102} issued on 16 July 2014 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities Statement of Recommended Practice effe¢liv¢ from I April 2005 which ha5 since been withdrawn. The Charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defin¢d by FRS 102.
