The objects of the Association shall be - To promote the benefit of the
inhabitants of Westgate-on-Sea and the neighbourhood without
distinction of sex or political, religious and other opinions by associating
the Local Authorities voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a
common effort to advance education and provide facilities in the interests
of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object
of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
To establish and secure the establishment of a Community Centre and to
maintain and manage, or to co-operate with the Local Statuary Authority
in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities
promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in the furtherance
of the above objects. The Association shall be Non-Party in Politics and
Non-Secretarian in Religion
From April 2024 to March 2025 the Centre has been busy holding well
over 30+ events and parties plus the centre being used by the regular
hirers providing a safe place for all members of the local community. Two
elections were also held.
A new group supporting Under 5’s started at the centre expanding to two
days a week as due to the volume of bookings.
Westgate-on- Sea Town Council held their Community Picnic, which was
enjoyed by all who attended with the community centre at the heart of
the event fulfilling the centres objectives.
Westgate Community Centre is an emergency accommodation centre for
the local Infants school and a Retirement Living facility. An agreement
was drawn up between both parties and keys were given.
A temporary telecom mast was placed on the adjoining green to the
centre. The centre held a public meeting giving the community the
chance to put their views across. An agreement was signed between
TDC, the Trustees of the Centre and the Telecom Company.
New blinds were installed at the centre.
The curtains were washed and coated with fire retardant spray as
recommended in the fire risk assessment.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Bookings are constant and groups are very happy with the Centre and managing the economic crisis. Rents have remained steady and the Centre is making a small profit yearly. Maintenance is ongoing.

There is no policy regarding reserves in the Constitution but the Brief statement of the Committee have agreed to a minimum of £10,000 being kept in a charity’s policy on reserves National Savings Account.

The Charity’s principal source of income is achieved by hiring the venue to various small businesses, community groups and providing a space for parties and charitable activities.
