TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDING 30TH NOVEMBER 2024

The Fund this year has continued to meet its objectives of providing sporting, leisure and social facilities for the residents of the two parishes. The emphasis this year has been on a scheme to replace the children’s playground which has reached the end of its useful life. This is reflected in the financial position of the fund as shown in the approved accounts. Financial Position

The accounts of the fund have been prepared and approved by our accountants and the Fund is financially stable. The accounts clearly reflect the fundraising for the playground and should be viewed with the fact in mind that we have committed £44,645 for phase one of the refurbishment and £9,797 for solar panels

The income and expenditure account shows a surplus of 20,004 due to the accumulation of funding for the playground with net current assets totalling £72,922. Income included £29,454 of playground donations.

General Matters

The main thrust this year has been to raise money for the refurbishment of the playground. The Fund received positive support from many quarters although it was disappointing that the biggest bid for grant funding to the Valencia Community Fund was thwarted at the last hurdle by Valencia Waste Management withdrawing from the Landfill Credits Scheme. As a result, and because of the rate of deterioration of the existing wooden equipment, the scheme has been split into two phases with phase one currently on order for installation sometime in February. Fund raising will continue for phase 2. The main building was checked for asbestos and nothing untoward was discovered also a number of necessary small building repairs were undertaken to keep the buildings in good general order. Several community events were held at the playing fields and the Bartons Memorial Sports and Social Club continued as a viable entity.
