Respective responsibilities of the trustrt8 and euminer The charity's trustees are rynsible for the preparation of the financial statements. Because of the level of income received by the charity an audit is not required by the CEwities Act 1993 but an independent examinWon is necessary. Basis of independent examiner's report I have carried out an examination in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. The examination includes a review of ¢vidence relevant to the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. It also includes an assessment of whether the accounting ￿)I]c]eS are appropriate to the charity's circumstsnces, consistently applied and adequately disclosed. The fllMi¢ial slatements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting FK)licies set out on fiDal page and comply with the applicable law. ConstitntioD and objeets The Alexander Pigott Wernher Memorial Tn￿1 is constituted by the Will of the late Right Honourable Alic¢ Sedgwick Baroness Lwllow dated 2nd January 1946 and is a registered charity, number 261362. The objects of the charity laid down in the Will are to provide funds to wist in research towards the prevention and cure of blindness aDd d¢thess. Grant making policy The charity receives applications from the various Institutions including other charities for donations to assist with funding research projects. These are reviewed against the specific criteria of the research objectives set out in the Will. Donations can be made towards research fellowships, relevant research projects includin8 the purchase of equipment for use with reSea￿h into the prevention or cure of eye and hearing disorders. Reviews of the funds available for donations are carried out durin8 the year and before the end of each accounting period. Durin8 the year ended 5 April 2022, the Tn￿£¢eS made £50,000 donations from sury)lus fund> Investwent policy The Charity follows a prudent ￿}1¢Y of mointsining investments which prnvide re8ular annual income to fund donations.
