ANNUAL REPORT BY THE SOCIETY’S COUNCIL

The Isle of Wight Natural History and Archaeological Society, Unit 7c, Prospect Business Centre, Prospect Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight, PO31 7AD is registered with the Charity Commissioners and governed by a set of rules lodged with the Charity Commission.

The Charity is administered by a Council, comprising:

President: Dr Vivian Roberts Secretary: Dr Colin Pope Treasurer: Mr Nigel Locke

Other members: Mr Paul Bingham, Mr Al Blenkinsop, Mr David Bone, Mrs Selena Bone, Mr Matthew Chatfield, Mrs Toni Goodley, Miss Lily Gray, Miss Jacqueline Hart, Dr Roger Herbert, Mrs Hazel Makepeace, Mrs Anne Marston, Mrs Margaret Nelmes, Mr Trevor Price, Dr Anthony Roberts, Mr Richard Smout, and Mr Dave Trevan.

New council members are elected at the Annual General Meeting.

The objects of the Charity are to promote, for the benefit of the public, the study of natural history, geology and archaeology especially in relation to the Isle of Wight and to promote the preservation of all objects of special archaeological and geological interest.

We provide a programme of meetings throughout the year for our various sections of natural history, geology and archaeology. A recorders conference was held in November which was open to anyone who has an interest in recording the Island's flora and fauna. The iWatch project holds events during the year to encourage young people and their families to observe wildlife on the Isle of Wight.

A visual records section has been setup so that digital photographs of natural history, archaeology and geology of the Isle of Wight may be recorded with the provenance and stored for future reference.

The Council Members declare that they have approved the report above.
