Summary
ofthe main
achievements
ofthe charity
during the year
The positive effects ofa complete
stipendiary
clergy team was noticeable
during 2022. Projects have moved forward
this year, and linked
applications
for grants and fresh applications
were made
in 2022 (still
subject ofcourse to any provisions
re the pandemic),
enabling
the
worrying
build-up
of funds to be put at last to work. The Trust has
continued
to make grants to two church committees
which enabled those
committees
to support
family foodbanks
serving Dorchester.
During 2022 grants totalling 832,150have been paid to St Mary's church
committee
to help with repairs and maintenance
ofthe building
and
churchyard,
including
R1,850 for the installation
ofan external
handrail
to
assist those with mobility
problems,
E2,000to a local foodbank
and family
support
charity, E1,750 for water butts and the long-held
grant ofF10,000
towards
quinquennial
expenses. E7,400 was granted
to StPeter's church
committee
toward necessary
repair works, the sound system and a
foodbank
charity.
No grants were taken up by StGeorge's church
committee as various repairs were taking longer to confirm than originally
thought.
A total ofF39,550was therefore
paid
in grants during 2022.
New grants were approved
ofF1,000 for toilet roof repairs and ofF300for
scaffolding
regarding
light replacements
to StGeorge's church committee.
These, together
with the 2021 grant off10,000 regarding
St George' s
tower lead, have not yet been claimed.
The Trustees continued
to make an annual
grant totalling F6,400 towards
the staffing and upkeep of the Dorchester
Parish Office, the administration
ofwhich provides
an essential
element
in furthering
both the religious
and
charitable
work ofthe Church of England
in this parish. The approved
grant for three years,
commenced
in 2020, ofE2,500 towards the costs of
the Parish Magazine
has been paid once; currently
the grant is in
abeyance
pending assessment
ofthe relaunch
ofthe Magazine
in 2022
and the Trustees
will consider the continuance
ofthe grant at their 2023
meetings. .
The Trustees are ever mindful
ofthe maintenance
and upkeep ofthe three
churches
in the Parish and to this end ensure that there are sufficient
funds available
to cover requests
for grants
in respect ofemergency
works
to the buildings
in their care; ifthe buildings
are not usable the work ofthe
churches
will be hampered.
