A new initiative sel the lone for the year. Our Open House Calé programme was laun¢hed as a safe environment for people experien¢ing loneliness, with a special focus on helping those with a dtagnosis of dementia and their carers. The New Vic Education leam led this initsalive to bring people together to engage in arts a¢livities and socialise, after a lime of crisis and uncertainty that had impacled so negatively on our area. Open House was also a metaphor lor how we wanled to support recovery - for our communities and lor us as an organisation. This special show about the life of local hero Neil 'Nello' Baldwn had been postponed from the autumn when covid was having such a terrible impact on the most vulnerable in our commun"rties. This New Vic Borderlines project in parlnership wlh the UK'S Illegal Money Lending Team IIMLT). Stoke and North Slaffordshire CAB and Aspire Housing created a documentary play in the lead up to Christmas which highlighted the melhods Loan Sharks use, including pSenting Ihemsefves as 'friends' or 'guardian angels,, preying on people when they are al their most vulnerable causing distress and misery. The play went on lour and was performe(l in schools, universities, colleges and community celllies across Stoke- on-Trenl and Newcaslle-under-Lyme. Following each pertormance. a workshop look place An expert from the Illegal Money Team toured wih the show gave instant advice and support. The CA8 and the Moneywise team also went out on tour and participated in Ihe workshops.

We ensured that ticket price was never a barrier to attendance during the year. All ticket pri¢es were kept low due to the investment of our funding partneis and our own fundraising. Our financial planning lor 202112022 was based on a phased reopening of our building and return Ir) face to face perfomian¢e5 and activblies. In practice this pioved to be more challenging than we had anticipated bul with the help of continuing funder support we were able to reprofile activities and expenditure lo remain financially resilient. Government support through the Department of Culture. Media and Sport and continijed investment from Arts Counal England were key lo enabling IJS to conb.nue delivering work for beneficiaries throughout the year. Fundraising Support from the Oenise Coales Foundation Continued to make a wnajor impact for the work of the theatre. The Foundation donated £1,004,830 during the year to ensure Ihe Ihealre's future as a vital resource for the lo¢al community, and as a producer of high-quality Ihealre, following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. They also donated a further £100,000 lo support the Bordedines service. Other fundraising successes included SLJPPOrt from the John Ellerman Foundab'on and The Chartley Foundation During the yeai income from legacies, donations, grants and sponsorship, and our capitsl appeal (excluding Arts Coun¢il England and local authority funding) amounted lo £1,506.140. We ¢onlinued to develop our individual. regular giving scheme New Vi¢ Pairons The scheme is designed to engage regular Iheatregoeis in a long term, philanlhropic relab"onship wlh the theatre, making regular small donations wrth the aim that these donations will conlinue over extended period5 of time.
