Re5pertive Responsibilities of the Board of Management and ReF>Orting Accountants As described on page 2, the Board of Management is responsible for the preparation of the accounts, and they believe the organisation is exempt from an an audit under Part 6 of the Charities Act 1993 a5 amended by Sec.2 of the Charities Act of 2(KJ6. B35is of Opinion I conducted my examination in accordan with the Statement of Recommended Practice1SORPI approved by the Auditing Practices Board. This examination consisted of comparing the accounts with the accounting records kept by the organisation, and making such limlted enqulries of the offlcers of the organisation as I considered necessary for the purposes of this report. The examination was not an audit conducted in accordance with Auditing Standards. Accordingly I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts. Therefore my examination does not provide an assurance that the accounting records and the accounts are free from material mis-statemsnt. The financial statement have been prepared in accordan wrth appllcable accounting standards and under the historical cost convention. In addition, the financial statements adopt the revised Statement of Recommended Practice, Accounting by Charlties Issued by the Charity Commissioners in Ortober 2CQ6. Lettlng Income The letting income derives from renting out part of the YMCA premises to various organisations. Depreclatlon Depreciation is provlded on all Flxed Assets at rates calculated to wrlte off their cost over the expected term of their useful life as follows: Flxtures and equipment 25% of reducing balance basis Grants Grants are accounted for by reference to the period covered by the grant. Statement of the Responsibilities of the Board of Management Charity law requires the Board to prepare financial statement for eath financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity's incoming resources and applications of resources during the year and of its State of affairs at the end of the year. In preparing the financial ststements. the Board is required to: Select 5Ultable accounting policies and apply them consistently Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent State whether applicable accounting standards are statement of recomrnended practice have been followed, subject to any material departure5 disclosed and explained in the financial statement,. and Prepare the financial statement on the going concern basis unless it is approprlate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The Board is responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity to enable members to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 1993. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and breaches of the law and regulations.
