Trustees Report
Our aim of trying to provide a place suitable for people of all ages to meet and carry out their own activities was hindered by the presence of Covid. Many groups felt they could not risk meeting, others were prevented from doing so by the rules, and indeed from the start of the year until June, Government ordered the Hall to remain closed.
Despite this we have had a reasonably successful year. A grant of £10,000 from Moondance was a great help, with the hall being closed for long periods due to the restrictions. During the period of closure the boiler had to be renewed at a cost of £1,862.60, and the flat roof needed replacing. The grant covered this expenditure until receipt of an insurance payment for the roof covered £4,635 of the £7,700 total cost of the roof. However the ceiling in the kitchen also had to be replaced at a cost of £885. Emergency lights also had to be renewed at a cost of £342. All at a time when there was no income.
Finally in June the Hall re-opened and our clients returned. This includes weekly dance classes, keep fit groups, a local homeschooled children's group, an air-gun club mainly for ex-servicemen, dog training club, and a local council's group for pre-school children. As well as these there have been children's parties, the Friendship Guild who meet monthly, occasional meetings of local organisations, we had a defibrillator demonstration, an amateur drama group held rehearsals and put on a pantomime, and a local piano teacher used the Hall for a students concert. All this activity took place within the appropriate restrictions on hygiene and social distancing. Unfortunately these restrictions forced us to reduce the Remembrance service to an outdoor wreath- laying and a minutes silence. Hopefully 2022 will be back to the normal service indoors. Total income this year was £25,166, total expenditure £19,227.55. Without the Moondance grant there would have been an overall deficit of £4,061.55, leaving a final balance of
£20,209.73. The grant changes this total to £30,209.73. Due to the fact that income was £166 above £25,000 the accounts had to be inspected. This was done by Salisbury's accountants in St. Asaph, who approved them with no problems, at a cost of £360,00.
