We work with locAI secondary schools and teams of local DBS checked volunteers with a focus on parenting and pregnancy bul also on rn8ny wider soaal issues. such as healthy relationships, personal cho(￿, slrgss management and building self-awareness, confidenc9 and aspiration. Mothers, Union members are very generous in their donations lo the Salisbury Women's Refuge with which we have a special relationship. having been one of the original founders. As well as financial donations members donal8 collections of items. including clothes. household it8ms and vouchers. Our promotion of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign Against Gender Based Violence continues arKI support for the campaign is a5ways increasing. In 2023, our Eucharist lin ils 11 year} was held in the Trinity Chapel of Salisbury Calh&dral attended by approximately 90 MU members and public figures. We were honoured lo have as our guesls.. the Mayor of Salisbuiy Aliqul Hoque and Mrs Caroline Probert Chair of Salisbury Women's Refuge. In 2023. we have agaln joined with the Soroplimisls in Salisbury in a collaborative effort with MU members covering shoe boxes in purple and orange (Dur and the Soroplimisls, coloursl for our Souls of our Shoes display against domestic abuse and in support of th8 Mothers, Union Rise Up campaign in the C8thedral's Trlnily chapel, Salisbury shops and al Thomas's Church. RISE UP Against Domestic Abus8 Is Mothers, Union's new campaign, launched in Septemb&r 2023, to raise awareness about domestic abuse. The aim is lo make sure that activism against domestic abuse and gender-based violenca happens 366 days a year and notjust during the 16 Days of activism campaign in November and December. The lellers of RISE UP sland for Respond, Inform, Support, Empower, Unite and Pray. There are bronze, silver and gold awards for brar￿leS anLI churches who take part and compl@t9 various activities. Christmas 2023 saw 28 individual prgs8nts wrapped lor the children of 20 fathers serving in Erlesltske prison. Promotion: As mentioned above, increasing numbers of members are purchasing MU products via the internat. Inltiatives: In partnership with Spurgeons Children Charlly, a Christian charity that aims lo improve the lives of children and families struggling to cope, MU members in Branches and Prayer and Fellowship Groups pul together, for young mothers le8ving hospital with very little, supplies ne￿SsarY for them and their newborns. such a5 nappies, baby clothes. baby blankets and towels, pram toys elc. which ara deliverad to Ruth Brook&5-Marlin who manages Spurgeons, collections. As a separ8te initialivg, members knit baby blankets lo a specific size 8nd pallern. This inilialivo was in response lo a call pul out by Salisbury District Hospital where, on average, 100 babies aro born every month. The Maternity Unil was unable lo provide blankets for the babies and so Mothers, Union came lo the rescue.
