TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025

The Trustees present their annual report for the year ended 31 March 2025.

Objectives and Activities

The objectives of The Midlands Eventide Home Trust are to provide accommodation for the care and comfort and residence of old and elderly people, especially those meeting with the Christian Brethren who may be no longer able, through age or disability, to earn their own livelihood.

In undertaking these activities, the Trustees have given consideration to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Achievements and performance

Review of activities

The Trust has had another quiet year with activities limited to the ongoing matters associated with the two tenanted properties at Yorke House, Hall Green, where our tenants have remained throughout the year and are happily enjoying their time there. We maintain good relationships with Platform Housing Group (formerly Waterloo Housing) who manage the properties on the Trust's behalf. In addition, the Trust has reviewed the funds that are held on deposit to ensure that competitive rates on interest are received and reinvested the maturing funds as appropriate. The Trust has continued dialogue with Anthony Collins Solicitors to explore opportunities to expand its areas of activities and make better use of its' investment funds.

Financial review

During the year the charity received rental income from Yorke House and Hall Green of £9,549 (2024: £6,123) and investment and other income totalling £16,845 (2024: £14,275). Total expenditure for the year amounted to £2,941 (2024: £4,040) resulting in net income for the year of £23,453 (2024: £16,362). This has been added to general reserves.

Reserves policy

The level of reserves is kept under review by the Trustees to ensure all current liabilities can be met and to maintain the fixed assets.

The Trustees acknowledge that the charity currently has significant cash reserves and are looking for suitable options to further the charitable objectives.

Structure, governance, and management

Constitution

The charity is regulated by a trust deed dated 14 July 1965 and registered with the Charity Commission under charity number 244949 on 13 October 1965.

TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025

Method of appointment or election of Trustees

The Trustees are appointed under the trust deed. The current Trustees are as shown on page 1 of these accounts.

No specific programme exists for the induction and training of the Trustees, although the Trustees intend to keep the matter under review.

Risk management

The Trustees believe that the charity is not exposed to significant external risk. Internal risks are minimised by implementation of procedures for authorisation of all transactions to ensure consistent quality of delivery for all operational aspects of the charity.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 7.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
