Redcliffe. It is a registered charity, niimber ?4?231, and is an unincorporated members, association governcd by its rules. The rules M'ere amcnded by resolutions of the Society's members at the 2008, 2009 and 2015 AGMS. At the 2008 AGM it was resolved to remove "(Friends of St Mary Redcliffe)" from the Society's fornial legal name which is now simply "The Canynges Society" Organi5ational structure The managcment of the Society is vested in a Standing Cotnmittee whose metnbers are the charity trustees (listed on pag¢ l ). Thc PCC is rcsponsibl¢, with th¢ pricst appoiiit¢d to hai'c charg¢ of th¢ parish. for thc church's work in the parish and in the wider world and its parti¢ipati(In iii the overall life of the church. Si Mary Redcliffe Church Lands Charity (registered charit), in F.ngland and Wales number 211109) - the vharity's objevts are to maintain the fabric of St Mary K¢dcliffe Church, maintain facilities for the conduvt of Divin¢ worship in th¢ chur¢h and support other charitable purposes in the parish. Risk management The Standing Committee confim)s that the major risks, to which the Society is exposed, as identified by it, hav¢ b¢en r¢vi¢ived and systemq hai'e been established to mitigate th¢s¢ risks. Internal risks are minimi8ed by the implementation of effective internal control procedures: which ensure both appropriate authorisation of all transactions and projects and consistent quality of delivery of all operational aspect of the Society. These procedures are periodically reviewed for their continuing effectiveness. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Charitable purposes The Societv's charitable purposes, for the benefit of the general public, are.. To raise funds with which to give support to the Parish Church of St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol, to make grants from time to time towards the restoration, upkeep and iinprovements and adorniiient of the fabric of the church and of thc churchyard and of ¢xtcnsions thcrcto, and to accuinulatc part thcrcof in ordcr to make additional grants froin time to time towards.. any major works of re5tot7tion which may become necessary- b) th¢ repair, rcstoration. renovation and rcplaceincnt of th¢ organ and the ornaments and othcr fittings and furniture of the Church, and the vestments, books and iiianuscripts thereof, and in or towards the maint¢naiic¢ of Divine worship therein; in or towards the advan¢emenl of religion in a¢cordanc¢ with th¢ riles of the Church of England; and d) in or towards the advan¢¢m¢nt of th¢ education of the gen¢ral public in relation to the Chrislian faith and the history of both the Chiirch of England and Parish of St Mary Redcliffe. Aetivities As in prei'ious years, the income of the Society is derived partly from a personal appeal launched by the President of the year, and partly from income from the Society s deposits and investments. It is the policy of the Society to make grants that do not exceed the value ot its general fund in nomial circumstances, and of its designated fund in the case ot specific major restoration projects.

THE CANIThGES SOCIETY REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025 ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities Despite the current ditficult economic times. and thanks to the dedicated eftorts of previous Presidents and the very kind donations of our membership. w'e haN'e been able to continue supporting the good works of St. Mary Redcliffc by Iielping maintain thc fabric of the church. The AGM was hcld on 2? Septcmbcr 2025 in the Church and the Standing Comtllittee has continued to meet in person and via digital conferencing. Durin¥ the vear the Society was able to SUPPOrt the coiiiplction of the loiig-term project to retnove the sawdust in th¢ Bcll Tower. Thcrc was also a contribution towards enhancing thc visltor cxperi¢ncc through interpretatiort paiiels, which came froiii the 2018 Presidents Appeal fund. There M'ere also contributions for th¢ r¢pair of thc Paty font and thc Nathanicl Bridges Inonument. FINANCIAL REVIEW Results for the year The charity raised income of £36,602 (2024.. £34,734) and incurred expenditure of £36,329 (2024.. £64,886) with an oi'¢rall gain on inv¢slm¢nis of £67,604 {2024.. £47,997) giving a result for the year i)f a surplus of £67,877 (2024.. surplus £17,845). Of this surplus, £69:166 (2024.. £21,662} was atiributable to the unr¢stri¢t¢d fund and there was a d¢fi¢it of £1.289 (2024.. d¢fi¢it £3,817) to r¢stri¢l¢d funds. Reserves policy The policy of the Standing Committee is to maintain a reserve ivhereby the unrestricted funds not designated, committed or invested in tangible fixed assets ("the free reserves") held by the charity should be one year's total expenditure, exclliding grants, which amounts to between £18,000 and £24,000 {2024.. £17.854). At this level the Standing Cominittee feel that it would be able to continue the current level of activities of the charity in the event of a significant reduction in funding. In such circumstances it would clearly be necessary to consider hoiv the funding would be replaced or activities changed accordingly. The free reserves (excluding designated reserves) held by the charity aiiiounted to £48.582 (2024= £47,020) at the balance sheet date. This is currently above the target level because funds of up to £24,000 have been earmarked for the West Window restoration project. Principal funding source5 Thc Society's priiicipal sourccs of funding arc- individual, trust and corporatr donations towards thc annual appeal: legacies and other donations bequeathed and given for the work of the Society towards it5 objects; and incoin¢ and Lapltal growth from th¢ Socicty's invcstmcnts and dcposits. Investment poli¢y and objeetiv&s The members of the Sranding Coiiimitle¢ int¢nd the real valu¢ of the Sociery's assets lo be mainiained and erthanced over the long teni) by investment in a portfolio of equities, fixed income stc)cks and cash deposits. Consistent with this obj¢ciiv¢, the Trustees wish lo obtain a dividend and interest in¢om¢ from (he portfolio each vear to contribute towards the purposes of the Society. The Society has adopted an ethical investment poli¢y w'hich is in line with current Chur¢h of England policy. FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS The Society is committed to continue to assist with the maintenance of the fabric of the Church. To that end it is currently supporting the Church to develop the visitor experience and contribiite towards the West Window restoration project.
