FINANCIAL REVIEW
Results for the year
The charity raised income of £36,602 (2024.. £34,734) and incurred expenditure of £36,329 (2024.. £64,886)
with an oi'¢rall gain on inv¢slm¢nis of £67,604 {2024.. £47,997) giving a result for the year i)f a surplus of
£67,877 (2024.. surplus £17,845). Of this surplus, £69:166 (2024.. £21,662} was atiributable to the
unr¢stri¢t¢d fund and there was a d¢fi¢it of £1.289 (2024.. d¢fi¢it £3,817) to r¢stri¢l¢d funds.
Reserves policy
The policy of the Standing Committee is to maintain a reserve ivhereby the unrestricted funds not
designated, committed or invested in tangible fixed assets ("the free reserves") held by the charity should be
one year's total expenditure, exclliding grants, which amounts to between £18,000 and £24,000 {2024..
£17.854). At this level the Standing Cominittee feel that it would be able to continue the current level of
activities of the charity in the event of a significant reduction in funding. In such circumstances it would
clearly be necessary to consider hoiv the funding would be replaced or activities changed accordingly. The
free reserves (excluding designated reserves) held by the charity aiiiounted to £48.582 (2024= £47,020) at the
balance sheet date. This is currently above the target level because funds of up to £24,000 have been
earmarked for the West Window restoration project.
Principal funding source5
Thc Society's priiicipal sourccs of funding arc- individual, trust and corporatr donations towards thc annual
appeal: legacies and other donations bequeathed and given for the work of the Society towards it5 objects;
and incoin¢ and Lapltal growth from th¢ Socicty's invcstmcnts and dcposits.
Investment poli¢y and objeetiv&s
The members of the Sranding Coiiimitle¢ int¢nd the real valu¢ of the Sociery's assets lo be mainiained and
erthanced over the long teni) by investment in a portfolio of equities, fixed income stc)cks and cash deposits.
Consistent with this obj¢ciiv¢, the Trustees wish lo obtain a dividend and interest in¢om¢ from (he portfolio
each vear to contribute towards the purposes of the Society. The Society has adopted an ethical investment
poli¢y w'hich is in line with current Chur¢h of England policy.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
The Society is committed to continue to assist with the maintenance of the fabric of the Church. To that end
it is currently supporting the Church to develop the visitor experience and contribiite towards the West
Window restoration project.
