Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The South Derbyshire communities of Ticknall and Calke and visitors to these ‘National Trust’ villages derive significant benefit from a beautiful Grade II-listed terrace of seven Almshouse properties which were built in 1772 (now known as Ticknall Hospital Charity). The Charity is administered by four Trustees and a treasurer. All the administrators are unpaid volunteers, ensuring that any income to the Charity is used wholly for the benefit of the residents. The Trustees meet on a quarterly basis to review maintenance and finance. The Trustees manage all aspects of building and grounds’ maintenance which is funded from residents’ modest weekly contributions. These are a fraction of commercial rents. The Charity aims to fulfil an accommodation need: providing convenient, comfortable and affordable housing for the over-60s that engenders a feeling of security and friendship among the residents, and within the wider community. |

The application was fully evidenced with background information and competitive cost quotations. The Charity was not successful. The Charity re-applied in January 2023 and was successful in securing the capital project grant of £ 16,400 which was 10% match-funded by the Charity. The grant was received in May 2023. |
