Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The South Derbyshire communities of
Ticknall and Calke and visitors to these
‘National Trust’ villages derive significant
benefit from a beautiful Grade II-listed
terrace of seven Almshouse properties
which were built in 1772 (now known as
Ticknall Hospital Charity). The Charity is
administered by four Trustees and a
treasurer. All the administrators are
unpaid volunteers, ensuring that any
income to the Charity is used wholly for
the benefit of the residents. The Trustees
meet on a quarterly basis to review
maintenance and finance. The Trustees
manage all aspects of building and
grounds’ maintenance which is funded
from residents’ modest weekly
contributions. These are a fraction of
commercial rents. The Charity aims to
fulfil an accommodation need: providing
convenient, comfortable and affordable
housing for the over-60s that engenders
a feeling of security and friendship
among the residents, and within the
wider community.
