**Ticknall and Calke and visitors to these**
**‘National Trust’ villages derive significant**
**benefit from a beautiful Grade II-listed**
**terrace of seven Almshouse properties**
**which were built in 1772 (now known as**
**Ticknall Hospital Charity). The Charity is**
**administered by four Trustees and a**
**treasurer. All the administrators are**
**unpaid volunteers, ensuring that any**
**income to the Charity is used wholly for**
**the benefit of the residents. The Trustees**
**meet on a quarterly basis to review**
**maintenance and finance. The Trustees**
**manage all aspects of building and**
**grounds’ maintenance which is funded**
**from residents’ modest weekly**
**contributions. These are a fraction of**
**commercial rents. The Charity aims to**
**fulfil an accommodation need: providing**
**convenient, comfortable and affordable**
**housing for the over-60s that engenders**
**a feeling of security and friendship**
**among the residents, and within the**
**wider community.**|

**successful.**

**and was successful in securing the**
**capital project grant of £ 16,400 which**
**was 10% match-funded by the Charity.**
