Section D Achievements and performance
| Summary of the main achievements of the branch during the year |
The club and branch have launched a website enabling members to keep up to date with past and future events and monies raised. It shows names of the current committees. There are also many “before” and “after” pictures charting the changes made during the refurbishment of our premises throughout the year. Initially a grant of £900 was obtained from the Raf Association enabling asbestos removal from the Committee room, staircase and landing. The branch was successful in obtaining a grant of £120078 from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund. This money was used to fully refurbish the ladies and gents toilets, function room, pool room, bar and lounge areas in addition to the installation of a new bar upstairs and a partial upgrade to the down stairs bar. Money was raised in the previous Nov & Dec and carried forward to add to donations received from a BBQ and Challenge 80 events. For Challenge 80 a sprit draw was held within the club, donations made via Wings Tins for commemorative ducks and our Standard Bearer walked, carrying the standard, 80 laps around Crook Market place. The latter raised £800 making a total of £1562 being forwarded to RAFA Wings Appeal to be added to £160 raised via a Just Giving page. The Committee contacted members after the initial Covid lockdown to enquire after their general wellbeing and also advise them that help was available where required. Committee and branch members supported each other on an ad-hoc basis by telephone contact, helping with shopping and visiting when members were shielding or ill. |
