Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the chartty during the year Social and Spiritual We continued our educational and social care wo¥k thmughout the year following the arrival of two new Sisters, one who had been working in Jerusalem for I l y¢ars as a TheolO￿an and avietnamese who had been posted to onc of our schools in France for a period of l O year5. This facilitated scveral developments due to the fact that they are bi-lingual which pcrmitted visits to famllies with whom we had less contact than previously. Tliey are attending lessons in the local college to irnprove their English languagc skills. One Sister works as a Carer in a local Care Home where she also acts as Chaplain and another works as Chaplain in a large Secondary School within the Dioccse. Two of our elderly Sisters are cared for within the community and we invited elderly members of the local cornmunity for lunches. We estimate that the community made approximately 20 weekly visits to the elderly and vulnerable IT) our local eornmunity as well as receiving approximately 35 individual visits over the year from people se¢king spiritual help or counscl. A week]y mass on Wednesdays was attended by another group and meetings for lay associates also met several times. One Sister directed Retreats for interns from the Centre for Th￿lOgY and Community, Sixth Fortners as well as for groups who met for Days of Recollection throughout the y¢ar within our Convent. She also attended tlie Profession of Vows for another Religious Ord¢r in her capacity as VI￿ for Religious of Brentwood Diocese. Justice and Peace work One Sister was invited to speak to Secondary School pupils frorn across the Diocese in relation to the Church'ssocial Teaching for Justice and Peace" attend a Justice and Peace Intemational Mceting of the Oblates via 2001n, met with staff and Leaders from The East London Communities Orgyanisation (TELCO) and severa] members attended the 27th anniversary Assembley of Londoi) Citizens. Ecumenical and Inter-Faith Since our fouiidation in the Uk at the outset of th¢ 20th century, the cornjnunity has continually engaged in ecuinenical work with other church and siiice the 60,5 With Inter-Faith communities. We see thi5 as a means of wcaving the fabric of our society since we were established to work for Unity amoiig the peoples with whorn we live. We also held our annual Garden Party in aid of our Orphanage in the Congo as 2 g¢5ture of solidarity with our Sisters working across the world. In short we were satisfied that our work this year co￿¢sponded with the intention for which our Charity exists and are grateful for the many volunteers and associates who helped us deliver it.
