We idenlilEd ond as5e55ed the risk5 of n￿terIal misslolement of Ihe financial slatements from irregularilies, whelher due to froud or error. and discussed these between our audit leam members. We then designed and performed audit tNoceduies responsive to Ihose risks. including obaining audit evidence suf1￿lent and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion. We obtained on understanding ol Ihe legal ond regublw framework5wilhin wh￿h the charitoble company operates. focusing on Ihose kjws ond regukntions thol have a direct effect on the determination of male￿al amounts and dEclosures in the ffnoncial statements. The knws and regulations we considered in this context were the Companies Act 2006. the Charities Act 2011 logether wilh the Charilies SORP IFRS 1021. We 0sses5ed the required compliance with these laws ond regulalions as port of cur audit procedures on the reloted linanciol stolemenf iterr6. In addition, we considered provisions of other laws and regulations thol do nol have o direct effect on the financiul slatements bul corrplrance with which muhl be fundamental to the charilablo company's obility lo operate or lo ovoid a N￿lerIal penolty. We aLs0 considered the opportunities and incentive5 thal may exist within the charitable company [￿trOud. The lows and regulotions we considered in this conlexl were General Dola Prolecling Regulalions. Auditing Standards limit the required audil yocedures to identify non-complKJnce wilh th￿e lows and iegulotions to enqury ol the Truslees and olhet monogemenl and inspeclron of regulatory and legal correspondence, rf any. We identified the greatest risk ol material impacl on the finan￿101 statements trom itregularilies, including fraud, to be within Ihe lirrung ot recognttion of certain income streams and Ihe override of conlrok by monogement. Our audit procedLKes lo respond to Ihese r15ks included enquNes of management, and the Trustee Board about their own identificotK)n and assessment of the risk5 of irregularities, sample testing on the posling of journals and certoin income stream5. reviewing occovnting eslimales for biases. reviewing regulatory coyespondence with the Charity Commission. and reading minufes of meetings of those charged with governonce. Owing to Ihe inherent limilalk)ns of an audit. Ihere is ark unavoidoble risk thaf we may not hove detected some moteriol misstatements in the finoncKJl 5talements. even though we hove properly planned and performed our audil in accordance wlh auditing slondards. For example. the lurther removed non-comp￿0nCe wilh laws and regulatK)ns IkTegulariliesl is from the everbls (Jnd Iransoctions reflected in Ihe financial slatemenls. the less likety Ihe inherently limited procedures roquired by auditing stondords would identify il. In addition. 05 wiFh any audit, there remained a higher risk ol non-deteclion of irregukjrilies. as Ihese may involve collvyon, f(ygery, intentional omissions, M￿repreSenIatIOns, CX the overrKJe of inlemal controLs. We are not responsible lor preventing non-compliance and connot be expected to delecl non-compliance with oll kjws and regulotions. 25
