The Iruslees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Slalemenl of Recommended Praotice applicable to charilios preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of I￿ land IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 2019} OBJECTIVES AND ACTivrriES Objectlves and aims The objective of the Society 15 the furtherance of the study of unwrillen evidences of British history 8inee the Roman period by the wblication of a journal and in any way that may be approved from time to time by the Councll. Slgnificant aGtlvltl The society exists to further the study of the period from the 5th lo the 16th century A.D. by publishlng journal of inlemational standing de?ling primarily with the archaeological evidence, and by other means such as by holding regular meetings gnd arranging ¢onfergnG8s. While maintaining a special concern for the medieval archaeology of Britain and Ireland. the society seeks lo support and advance the international study of this period las broadly defined above) in Europo. It also aim5 to seNe a5 a medium for ccpordinaling Ihe work of archaeologists with that of historians and scholars in any other discipline relevant lo this field. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable actlvltles The society has published the annual journal, Medieval Archaeology and has also published a monograph series. Annual excavation summaries are reported in 'Medieval Britain and Ireland,. These publications are produced with the aim of exlending our knowledge of the medieval period in Britain's history. The work of the society is now more wdely publicised on our website - www.medievalarchaeology.co.uk. FINANCIAL REVIEW Investment pollcy and objectlVOS The investment powers are as stated in the Conslilution. The Society does not hold any investments currently. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF SOCIETY FOR MEDIEVAL ARCHAEOLOGY Independent examlnor's raport to the trustees of Soclety for Médiéval Archaeology I report lo the charity Iruslees on my examination of the accounts of Society for Medieval Archaeolo9y (the Trust} for the year ended 31 March 2024. Responslbllities and basis of report As the charity Iruslees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'Ihe Act'}. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act and in carylng ovl my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 14515llb) of the Act. Independent examlneff8 Statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connecllon with Ihe examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act., or the accounts do not accord with th08e records,. or the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts sel out in the Charllie5 (Accounts and Reports) Regulatlons 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts 9ive a true and fair view which is not a matter ¢on$iéered as part of an Independent examinatlon.
