- During the year 2020:
The Trustees met on four occasions for the routine administration of the Charity’s business, including the upkeep of ten almshouses. Charitable donations, derived from interest on investments, were made to the Vicars of Great Baddow and Galleywood for the Relief of the Needy of the Parishes and to the Sunday Schools. Each resident of the Almshouses was presented with Christmas Gifts.
There were no vacancies at the almshouses of St Mary’s Court and Kinghams during the year.
Only routine maintenance occurred during the year which was kept deliberately quiet because of the COVID pandemic including delaying the quinquennial report planned for 2020.
The normal practice of attending a national Almshouse Association update course for updates in legislation and good practice was also cancelled.
A review of the investments took place in November and at the same meeting Trustees agreed a budget for 2021 and an increase in maintenance contributions from almshouse residents. The intention is that reserves should aim over the short term to be at a level of £15,000 per property in case of urgent or emergency repairs.
Neil Mclean, Chair of Trustees. 23rd June 2021. For and on behalf of the Trustees.
