Auditor

Aims and Objectives

The Trustees are charged with maintaining the hall and grounds to provide a safe and accessible space for the community to come together in various activities.

The hall is available to hire for many regular activities, such as Guiding, Art Groups, Keep Fit, Carpet Bowls, Fellowship Groups and also hosts the pre-school.

The hall is also open to hire by private individuals for activities such as children’s parties, family celebrations and funeral wakes.

Achievement and Performance

This has been a very difficult period, with Covid 19 impacting everyone’s lives, businesses and charities including village halls. Government guidelines and lockdowns have meant that, with the exception of a few weeks last year when the Art Group met, the only group using the hall was the pre-school.

To enable the Village Hall to operate within the Laws of Government Guidelines for Health and Safety, a lot of work has been necessary , both by the user groups and the Village Hall Committee.

Risk assessments had to be undertaken with preparation of Special Conditions of Hire agreements. Protective clothing items had to be purchased, special cleaning products provided and cleaning routines established.

The income stream was severely affected for several months but costs such as utilities were still incurred. Thanks to local government grants the finances are in a reasonably healthy position, enabling the committee to offer some financial support to user groups and community events, and to plan for long overdue improvements to facilities.

Thanks

I would like to record my thanks to all committee members for their support during this difficult time.

Christine Hunter
