The strategy has resulted in 106 new local partnerships across the UK. 1,224 alcohol and drug worker5 have been recruited. However, there have been shortfalls and there are clear underspends in the supply of people properfy trained to deal with drug addicts. There ha5 been Some improvement the disruption of supply of drugs and some eXpansn of the workforo. It has been admltted that there wewe x)me delays in getting the money out to the I1 authorities. There has been less prog in redUa the demand for drw that VAS anticipated. It is deemed that it is a long-temi complex problem which requires sustsined k)r-tevrn sponses.
