Our Choi￿ of partners In Harrow has been detemined by research Into kKal charfties who can run

StrateLY to tackle drug addictions. Thls highlighted laA year that there a￿ ￿,C￿XI people in prison, half
of whom have drug problems and 250.(KKI people on probation who also have drug issues. £900 million
has been spent on the cornbatlng drugs partnefship strntegy however d￿￿$ and deaths cost £20
blllion per annum. 42 lo￿1 authorities ha¥p introduced Combati￿ dr￿ Paftsier5hips Strate￿ and
some of them have seen a drop of 50% In the i55ue5. The strategy has resulted in 106 new local
partnerships across the UK. 1,224 alcohol and drug worker5 have been recruited. However, there have
been shortfalls and there are clear underspends in the supply of people properfy trained to deal with
drug addicts. There ha5 been Some improvement the disruption of supply of drugs and some
eXpans￿n of the workforo. It has been admltted that there wewe x)me delays in getting the money out
to the I￿1 authorities. There has been less prog￿ in redUa￿ the demand for drw that VAS
anticipated. It is deemed that it is a long-temi complex problem which requires sustsined k)r￿-tevrn
sponses.
