Any residue of income may be applied to the gener81 benefit of the inhabitants ol the area of benefit. The Trustees may apply income in promoting the education 8nd training of persons under the age of 25 years, rc8ident kn the arca of benefit and in need of fmancial a88i8tance. The Trustees 8im to keep a year's income in reserve in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
The Charity own8 nine mobility Scooters. Thes¢ 8re loaned, insured and maintsined by the Charity giving independence and freedom Éo the users in the village. Depreciation is not charged and when they are no longer needed they Bre returned to the Charity and available for reallocation. As always, my thanks and appreciation go to the Tru8tre8 for giving their time artd providing invaluable I¢Jc8J knowledge. It remains the intention to pur8ue the merger twe¢ll the Waterbeach Turbary and the Waterbeach United chltieS. We had a positive response to a consultation with stakeholders and residents, and now await feedback from the Chlty Commission to our propo8dJ. Smith Charit We were grateful to receive grant funding of £1,850 from the Henry Smith ChaTity which was used to support a resident 8uffering hardship. Distress ants The charity ha8 SUPPOrted 9 re8ident8 this year. These induded carpeting for rc8idents moving into unfurnished properties, covering transport expenses for residcnts in low income to enable them to attend their place of worklhospital appointments, funiiture and winter elothing. 8cooter3 The Lharity buy8, loans, nxaintains and insurcs 8CLK>ters to re8ident8 in need. When they are no longer rcquired they are returned to the Chlty to loan out again. This ycar the Charity loaned out 8 and has l in 8tock. Onc scooter was withdraMI as beyond economic repoir, and a replacement purchased. Following the withdraw8J of our previou8 insurers from this sector of work we had a hiatus in coverage in 2024 which we are able to resolve in 2025. Student This year we awarded 14 grants to students studying 8ubjccts including English. Mathetnmtics, Medicine, Geography, Physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation and Graphic design. Once ain it was dear how gnxiou8 many of the student applicants are about the impact that the cost of living increases are having on them. We wish them well in their chosen studies. Risk Man ent. The Charlty manages risk in relation to the mobility scooters it own8. It will also review risk before making any commitment to the merger with the Turbary charity referred to above.
