Activities

We promote mental health awareness in farming and rural communities through education, outreach and signposting. We run stands, talks and activities at agricultural shows, colleges and rural events across the UK, creating safe, stigma free spaces and guiding people to trusted support services.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are, For The Public Benefit, To Promote And Protect The Mental Health And Wellbeing Of Individuals Involved In Agriculture, Equine Activities, And Rural Life Across The United Kingdom. This Includes, But Is Not Limited To, Farmers, Agricultural Workers, Equine Professionals, Land Based Workers, Rural Residents, Countryside Users, And The Families And Communities Connected To These Environments.in Furtherance Of These Objects, The CIO Will:(a) Advance Mental Health Awareness And Understanding Within Agricultural, Equine, And Rural Settings By Providing Evidence Based Information, Educational Resources, Talks, Workshops, And Community Engagement Activities That Increase Knowledge Of Mental Health Conditions, Stress Factors, Early Warning Signs, And Pathways To Support.(b) Relieve Mental Distress And Reduce Isolation Among Individuals Living Or Working In Agricultural, Equine, And Rural Environments By Facilitating Opportunities For Open Conversation, Peer Support, Community Connection, And Stigma Free Discussion Of Mental Health Challenges, Including Through Outreach At Agricultural Events, Equine Gatherings, Rural Shows, And Community Venues.(c) Promote Suicide Prevention And Early Intervention By Raising Awareness Of Risk Factors Associated With Farming, Equine Work, And Rural Isolation; Encouraging Help Seeking Behaviour; And Signposting Individuals To Appropriate Professional, Statutory, And Voluntary Support Services.(d) Provide Information And Signposting To Reputable Mental Health Services, Crisis Support Organisations, Rural Support Charities, And Other Relevant Agencies, Ensuring That Individuals In Agricultural, Equine, And Rural Communities Can Access Timely And Appropriate Assistance.(e) Support The Reduction Of Stigma Surrounding Mental Health Within Agricultural, Equine, And Rural Communities By Promoting Positive, Inclusive, And Non Judgemental Messaging That Normalises Conversation, Encourages Openness, And Challenges Harmful Misconceptions.(f) Promote Social Inclusion For Individuals Who Are Socially Excluded Due To Rural Isolation, Occupational Pressures, Cultural Stigma, Or Other Barriers Associated With Agricultural Or Equine Environments, By Creating Opportunities For Connection, Participation, And Community Engagement.the CIO May Undertake Any Lawful Charitable Activity That Is Incidental Or Conducive To The Furtherance Of The Above Objects.all Activities Shall Be Carried Out For The Public Benefit In Accordance With The Charities Act 2011.
