Activities

Current primary activity is working towards the installation of a bronze sculpture of Rhodri Morgan, former First Minister of Wales, 2000-2009, on the estate of Senedd Cymru by July 2026. The sculpture is being designed and fabricated by the internationally recognised sculptor Andrew (Andy) Edwards who, among many other commissions, created The Beatles on the Liverpool waterfront.

Objects: 1. To Advance Education And Promote Good Citizenship For The Benefit Of The Public By: (a) Encouraging Historical Appreciation And Further Study Of The Development Of Democratic Governance In Wales, Including The Political And Civic Struggle For A Welsh Legislature From The Late 19th Century To The 21st Century; (b) Increasing Public Understanding Of The Role Of The Rt Hon Hywel Rhodri Morgan, Pc, First Minister Of Wales (2000-2009), In The Establishment Of Devolved Government In Wales And The Creation Of Senedd Cymru; (c) Commemorating The Life And Public Service Of Rhodri Morgan As A Means Of Promoting Civic Values And Encouraging The Emulation Of The Qualities He Exemplified In Public Life, Including Integrity, Inclusivity, And Commitment To Democratic Governance; And(d) Commissioning, Erecting, And Maintaining A Public Sculpture Of Rhodri Morgan On The Estate Of Senedd Cymru In Cardiff As A Means Of Supporting The Above Purposes, Accompanied By Interpretive Materials Or References To Educational Resources To Enhance Its Value As A Public Educational And Civic Resource. 2. To Promote The Enhancement And Beautification Of The Public Realm Surrounding Senedd Cymru In The City Of Cardiff For The Benefit Of The Inhabitants Of Wales, Through The Installation And Maintenance Of The Above-Mentioned Sculpture. In Furtherance Of These Objects, The Trustees Shall Have The Power To:(i) Transfer Ownership Of The Sculpture To The City And County Council Of Cardiff Or Its Successor; (ii) Commission, Publish, And Distribute Educational Materials, And Organise Lectures, Exhibitions, And Events In Collaboration With Other Charities, Public Bodies And Not-For-Profit Voluntary Organisations.
