Expenditure for the period totalled £136,564, covering both charitable actlvlties and the costs of ralslng funds. After all costs, th8 ch8rlty reported a net surplus of £3,163, which has been carried forward a8 unrestrictÈd rè8BNes. This surplus provides an Important early foundatlon for financial reslli8nc8 as the charity contlnues to grow. The accounts show that the charlty Is operatlng wlthln Its means, wlth Income broadly aligned to expenditure and all r8Strl¢ted funds fully 8pplied to their intended purposes. HBA Support's tfustees are appolnted on the ba8ls of their personal experlence, prof8ssIDn81 skllls, networks, and conn@ctlon to the charlty's mlsslon, ensuring the b08rd refl8Ct8 both the Ilved reallty of brain aneurysm patients and familles, and the strategic expertlse requlred for effectlve governance. The board is intentlonally div9rse, brlnglng together patients, family members, worlQ-le8dlng researchers and surgeons, ond trustees wlth strong flnancial, governance, and organisatSonal leadership experlence. Thls yÈar. the ch8rlly is undert8klng an annual skills audltto assess curr&nt strengths and identity gaps, with the intention of appointing two or more additional trustees to further strengthen the board's ¢apaclty. In line wlth the charity's Trustee Handbook, all future appointments wlll follow robust govern8nce procedures, includlngtransparent promotion, fair and Incluslve recruitment, and a structured induction process to ensure newtrustees are f ully supported in their roles. Trustee Induction and Training HBA Support has established clear pollcl6s 8nd procedures to ensure everytrustee 1$ inducted and supported in line with recognised best practice. All tiustees receive a comprehensive Trust8e Handbook, whlch sets out thelr legal dutles, the charity's governance f ramework, key pollcies, and the expectations of their role. 11
