The charity has a primary to advance the education, in particular but not exclusively of, student members of colleges and education institutions within the University of London federation by: (i) providing opportunities and support (including financial support) to the ice hockey teams and activities at the University of London including, but not limited to, the London Dragons, (ii) and by ensuring that due attention is given to the physical education to a high standard of the members of said teams and activities. One of the charity’s trustees (Michael D’Aprix) is also a trustee of the London Ice Hockey Trust (1206954).

In addition to and to the extent that the charity’s assets are not required for its primary purpose described above, the charity has a secondary purpose to advance the amateur sport of ice hockey in the United Kingdom.

The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. During the year, UL Ice Hockey Trust advanced its charitable purposes by providing opportunities for participation in amateur ice hockey for 26 students across 10 universities. This included providing access to ice time and facilities, organising structured practices, and enabling participation in the British Universities Ice Hockey Association season.

In addition, the charity provided participants with support through CV advice and networking opportunities, contributing to their broader personal and educational development. Section E Financial review

The trustees recognise the importance of maintaining reserves to support Brief statement of the the charity’s ongoing activities and to provide financial resilience against charity’s policy on reserves unexpected costs or interruptions to income.
