The charity has a primary  to advance the education, in particular but not exclusively of, student members of colleges and education institutions within the University of London federation by: (i) providing opportunities and support (including financial support) to the ice hockey teams and activities at the University of London including, but not limited to, the London Dragons, (ii) and by ensuring that due attention is given to the physical education to a high standard of the members of said teams and activities. One of the charity’s trustees (Michael D’Aprix) is also a trustee of the London Ice Hockey Trust (1206954).

In addition to and to the extent that the charity’s assets are not required for its primary purpose described above, the charity has a secondary purpose to advance the amateur sport of ice hockey in the United Kingdom.

The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. During the year, UL Ice Hockey Trust advanced its charitable purposes by providing opportunities for participation in amateur ice hockey for 26 students across 10 universities. This included providing access to ice time and facilities, organising structured practices, and enabling participation in the British Universities Ice Hockey Association season. 

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

In addition, the charity provided participants with support through CV advice and networking opportunities, contributing to their broader personal and educational development. During the year, the trustees also began fundraising efforts to support the continuation and future expansion of these charitable activities.

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

## Financial: 

   - HMRC charity registration secured. 

   - • Bank account established with Natwest and Paypal charity accounts set up to facilitate GoFundMe and JustGiving campaigns and website donations. 

   - Website with donation function established and live (www.londondragons.com). 

   - Fundraising statement outlined, to support UL Ice Hockey Trust’s fundraising and operational strategy, and to form the basis for a more detailed strategy of engagement with alumni and other stakeholders. 

- Alumni database compiled / extracted to serve as basis for alumni fundraising.  Engagement strategy under consideration. 

- • Opportunities for engagement at club and alumni events considered. 

- Operational: 

   - Provided 24 training sessions and completed a full season of 8 games with the BUIHA placing 2nd. 

   - Provided an Alumni Game to engage former students to donate to the club and engage in volunteer activities. 

   - Secured volunteer streaming and commentary on games to broaden outreach and engagement. 

   - Improved social media with regular posts on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook to help highlight and spotlight students for networking. 

   - Supported students with proofreading, editing, and formatting for CVs and provided professional networking.

As this was the charity’s first reporting period, the trustees had not yet established a significant level of reserves. The trustees intend to review the charity’s reserves position as its activities and fundraising develop.
