1. Structure, governance and management
Vocal Voyage is controlled by its governing document and is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The trustees are responsible for the charity's strategic direction, governance, and oversight.
Vocal Voyage was incorporated in July 2024; therefore, this report will only cover part of the reporting period.
Trustees met as required during the reporting period and oversaw the establishment of the charity’s core governance arrangements.
The charity did not employ any staff during the reporting period. The trustees oversaw all activity voluntarily.
2. Objects and activities
The objects of Vocal Voyage are to support young people aged 11–24 with speech and language difficulties by improving confidence, well-being, and communication through mentoring, awareness-raising, and community-based support.
During the reporting period, the charity was in its early stages of development and did not deliver funded activities. Trustees focused on preparing the charity to begin delivery once funding was secured, and are committed to ensuring the charity's objectives are met in the future.
3. Achievements and performance
During the reporting period, Vocal Voyage did not deliver funded activities.
Voluntary activity was undertaken on behalf of the charity to support its early development. This included unpaid volunteering time focused on promoting the charity’s aims, making initial contact with local schools to raise awareness of the charity, and supporting early relationship-building to inform potential future partnership opportunities.
Trustees focused on strengthening the charity’s foundations, including developing a business plan and preparing key governance and safeguarding policies to ensure the charity was compliant, well-governed, and ready to begin delivery once funding was secured.

4. Financial review
During the reporting period, the charity received no significant income and incurred minimal expenditure.
Due to the limited financial activity during the year, the charity did not build up reserves. Trustees monitored the charity’s financial position and ensured appropriate oversight in preparation for future funding and delivery.
The trustees are mindful that if they were to employ staff in the future, this would need to be established through grant funding, and they should be aware of employer national insurance contributions alongside pension contributions and establish a suitable pension scheme if necessary.
5. Plans for the future
Trustees plan to secure grant funding to deliver the charity’s activities. This includes submitting funding applications to programmes such as the National Lottery Awards for All and exploring further opportunities, including Pudsey funding and other relevant grant schemes.
Trustees intend to continue developing the charity’s profile and sustainability by attending funding fairs and networking events, strengthening partnerships, and building relationships with local youth organisations, speech and language therapists, and schools.
These activities are intended to support future service delivery, raise awareness of the charity’s work, and ensure that Vocal Voyage is well-positioned to meet local needs once funding is secured.
The trustees are aware that the charity does not have a stable or sustainable income, and, due to the nature of its objects, it is unlikely to become sustainable and no longer need a grant scheme to continue its delivery.

7. Statement of trustees’ responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
Trustees are required to prepare financial statements for each financial year that give an accurate and fair view of the charity's state of affairs and of its incoming and applied resources for that period.
