Our February concert was advertlsed a$ In" Invltstlon to Dance" and It fe•tured muslc wrltten for the ballet whKh Included pleces by Prokofiev. De Falla. Khachaturlan, Bllss. and Stravlnsky. The programme was very chaltenging for the orchestra but, as afways, they rose to the challen8e arml pmduced some exceptlonal mvstcal interpretstions of thls programme. The February concert wasSkn)on Chalys final concert of the 5ea50n and he was keen to express how pleased he was with the thndard of the orthe5tra's playlng in both of the Concert We are tremendousty lu(y to have both Simon and Haine as our Muslcal Dlrertors,. they work $0 well tcytrrto ensure that the orchestra Is able to achieve such IMpsSi¥e results.

The concert was dedlcated to the memory of Malcolm Ruddlforth who was, for many years. a strong and loyal 5UPPOrteT of the orchestra We are honoured and gratefvl that when Malcolm pa5*d he bequeathed a signlficant Sum of money to the Hull Phllhamionlc Society. Thls wlll help ensure the fvture flnanclal securlty of the orchestra. Thls concert was also the Ideal opportunmy ft)r Andrew to complete the cycle of Brahms symphonles, whlch he had be8un before Covld, wlth a performance of the 3rd Symphony. The concert was a great success and provided a fftiin8 end to another hlghly successful season. Durlng the year we undertk a recruttment prtxess to feplace our General admlnlstfdtor Je55 Fear.
