Para 1.20 | This is the first year of WCKI's existence and a lot of effort has been spent understanding the legal side of organising a charity and how it has to operate; getting WCKI registered with the Charity Commission and HMRC for Gift Aid. That apart we have been preparing for some football clinics (training sessions / camps) for youngsters affected by cancer at Stevenage FC and Powerleague Milton Keynes -a provider of sporting facilities for various events and training sessions centred around ball based sports. On the fund raising side some Trustees and friends elected to undertake a 40 mile walk between the 7 London based Premier League football stadiums on February 4th, World Cancer Day, to raise funds for WCKI – codenamed WCKI WALK. The Justgiving funds raised in January represent the start of the donations ahead of the WCKI WALK. A fundraising golf day is also being considered for August at Letchworth Golf Club. No football training sessions / camps were held in the period of this annual return but preparations were well underway for the first event at Stevenage FC football ground in April. |

risks facing the charity first few years when we are still
learning how to manage the charity
and the football events that we run and
as a result over promise and under
deliver.
As fundraising is seen as our principle
means of income it is important that we
only consider providing activity
sessions when we have sufficient
funds to cover the foreseen cost of the
planned events. If we do not have
sufficient funds then the event will not
take place. We do not plan to go into
the red financially.
We become too successful, attracting
more children than we can efficiently
manage to a session and we cannot
attract enough trainers of the right
calibre to support those sessions.
