Objectives and Activities
Summary of Objectives
Our charity objectives are:
THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: TO ADVANCE, IMPROVE, DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN PUBLIC EDUCATION IN, AND APPRECIATION OF, THE ART AND SCIENCE OF MUSIC IN ALL ITS ASPECTS BY ANY MEANS THE TRUSTEES SEE FIT, INCLUDING THROUGH THE PRESENTATION OF PUBLIC EVENTS.
We achieve this through the management of a brass band which entertains and informs the public and provides a musical experience for people of all ages, incomes and levels of competence. The charity provides instruments, music, uniforms, conductors and rehearsal facilities. The band strives for musical excellence and enjoyment, and supports the local community.
Summary of Activities
Hawk Green Band have spent the last reporting period transitioning from within The Brass Bands of Marple, an unincorporated charity, into their own Charitable Incorporated Organisation (HGB-CIO), charity number: 1207237. By the end of this reporting period, all of Hawk Green Band’s assets had been transferred into the new CIO.
In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, so our activities fall into 4 broad groupings.
-
Providing a musical experience for audiences by performing in public and private concerts. We also use these performances to raise some of the money we need to fund the charity,
-
Providing a musical experience for players through regular rehearsals, directed by an experienced conductor, using suitable music, and by providing instruments on loan where necessary,
-
Striving for excellence though contests,
-
Supporting other charities by playing at their events.
