Objectives and Activities
The charity’s core objective is to provide and maintain a recreation hut for the benefit of the residents of Fonthill Gifford and the surrounding community. The hut serves as a venue for social, educational, and recreational activities, aiming to enhance community cohesion and wellbeing.
Achievements and Performance
During the 2024 financial year, the recreation hut hosted a variety of events, including weekly bridge sessions during autumn and winter months, Pilates, Parish Council meetings, a coronation curry night and annual village Christmas party. The trustees worked hard to ensure the hut remained accessible, safe, and welcoming for all users. Notable highlights this year included:

The Hut received a significant number of charitable donations from local residents and others with associations to Fonthill Gifford and the Hut.

Bidding for and securing grant funding of £1,500 from Wiltshire County Council for the renovation of the dilapidated toilets.

Internal strip out of the men’s and women’s toilets and adjoining lobby area used for ad-hoc storage and creation of two new WC’s one of which being configured to provide improved accessibility. A new larger cloakroom and additional storage area has also been completed.

During the process of the completion of the works to refurbish the WC’s, there was also opportunity to replace the carpet in the entrance to the Hut which had become deteriorated and uneven presenting a safety hazard.

A village Christmas party hosted by the Parish Council was well attended and the accompanying raffle raised further funds for the Hut.
Financial Review
The charity’s finances remain stable. Income was derived primarily from fundraising and community donations. Expenditure was largely allocated to the refurbishment of the Hut toilets and entrance, utilities (particularly heating oil) and insurance.

The trustees are satisfied that the charity’s reserves are sufficient to cover ongoing commitments and to support planned improvements in the coming year.
