For the public benefit to promote humane behaviour towards Spanish Water Dogs throughout England, Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment, security and re-homing for such dogs which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness,

maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage, and educating the public in matters relating to care,

public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

welfare and training of such dogs.

The Trustees have looked at future legislation proposals and have decided to set SWDR on a path to join the Association of dog and cat homes (ADCH) this will help SWDR to continue improving their service to the public and ensure that all their processes are inspected and are appropriate.

Section D Achievements and performance

Our main achievements since becoming a charity in February 2024, we Summary of the main achievements of the charity have rehomed 9 dogs to new families. We have also helped with 9 during the year families that required guidance, support and advice to enable them to keep their dogs in their current home and avoid rehoming their dog. At the end of the period of this report, we had 2 dogs in kennels, Tino and Ella and 2 dogs awaiting rehoming, Ted and Arlo.

We have raised in the region of £19,000 in this period. This has been raised by the hard work and dedication of the charity’s supporters including Trustees and committee members.

Our income is diverse and comes from multiple sources.

Whitfun, our annual public dog event which enables owners to try various canine activities with trainers, socialise with other SWD owners and their dogs, and mee the SWDR team.

This has enabled us to provide professional behavioural support to many dogs and owners. Paid for travel expenses of SWDR volunteers to transport dogs from home to home, to travel to owners homes to help with behavioural difficulties and to carry out home checks for would be adoptive families.

Key objective for the next year is to improve our record keeping system and to update SOP’s which will enable us to apply for ADCH membership.

Enable volunteers the opportunity to further their knowledge in partnership with Battersea academy, both online and in person.

We have created a post for Fundraising lead, to explore further money raising opportunities.
