SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 MIZKAST deliver Arts and Media projects within
the communities of Bradford and Halifax to young
people from the LGBTQIA community. Our
projects offer a safe and creative space for young
people to work together creatively on pieces of
work that reflect their identities and those of their
community.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
The activities that we have run within the time
period stated above have been:

Producing 2 large murals at a local
community centre in Halifax for disabled
young people. The murals were based
on the themes of positivity and identity,
reflecting empowering imagery related to
disability and equality.
Young volunteers from the LGBTQIA+
community took part in all aspects of the
project and were mentored in the skills of
Youth Arts.

Developing and preparing for a live
performance taking place at Cartwright
Hall in Bradford as part of an LGBTQIA+
showcase called TRANSFORM. The
project ran with young people from the
LGBTQIA+ community, on issues
reflecting their community and producing
a piece of live art to a live audience.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The main achievements for our charity within this
time frame have been:

The production of 2 large murals, which
have been designed and created by
LGBTQIA+ young people, which has
involved them being involved in:
mentoring, learning skills (social and
artistic), gaining confidence, been safely
supported, working as part of a team and
independently. These pieces of work
were a huge achievement for all who
were involved and the completed piece
of work enhanced a previously dull and
inspiring space into a vibrant and
welcoming environment.

The production of a piece of Live Art
which was showcased at CartWright Hall
in Bradford was a huge step up for us as
an organisation. We partnered with
Museums and Galleries in Bradford and
successfully performed an important and
relevant piece of work as part of the City
of Culture 2025, THIS IS ME exhibition.
This project has allowed us to develop
new relationships with partners which will
impact our future work greatly.
We were asked to be part of the
committee for the Leeds Community
Foundation, which was an honour for
such a small organisation as ours. Our
voice and the voice of the young people
we work with are respected and included
in major changes with local grants
development.

Our new partnership work with Fire and
Water in Sowerby Bridge has been an
exciting development. We will be working
with them to: a) House our groups for
workshops, projects and performances b)
Work with them to develop a greater
space for LGBTQIA+ young people to
attend and be part of the local
community.

Achievements against
objectives set

Para 1.41

The achievement of our new partnership work
with Bradford Galleries and Museums and the
piece of live art that was performed, has been an
unexpected addition to our work. This is because
we hadn’t planned to do this piece of work. We
were contacted by the head of Bradford and
Museums who had heard about our previous
work and wanted to work with us, which has been
huge as part of our work and our future
development. This new partnership will impact
greatly on the young people and communities we
will be able to connect and work with, in a
different and exciting way.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 We are extremely happy with our financial
position at the end of this period. We received a
large piece of funding (large for us) which will
enable us to continue the work we are doing for
the next year.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 There are no reserves held.
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 We only get a very limited amount of funding per
year and we work from project to project. Every
penny of our funding is always spent from each
funding we receive.
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 N/A
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 Our charity runs from project to project, so there
is never any real security for us. However, so far
we have always been successful with funding
and plan our funding bids well in advance. We
run our charity part-time.
