|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Music Centre offers a range of bands, orchestras, and other ensembles that cater for the needs of a wide range of abilities. It provides more specialised coaching in ensemble playing that young people are usually able to access in schools. It gives performance opportunities – both in groups and solos, in a variety of concert and public venues. Where pupils' circumstances require financial support bursaries are available. Some students complete their ‘volunteering’ element of Duke of Edinburgh Award through the centre. It provides volunteering opportunities for parents/carers also. |

Achievements against objectives set |
Para 1.41 |
1. Increase Student Enrolment and Participation: Pupil numbers continue to increase - in the region of 11%. Schools in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire contacted for promotion of specific new groups linked to CIL – 2 starter groups were established. We held a series of concerts and other events to promote the Music Centre, with good community engagement. Thanks to a generous donation from a local supporter, we established a bursary fund. 2. Enhance Educational Offerings: Our Ensembles embrace a wide range of musical genres and instruments. Part funded learning on rare instruments is now offered. To widen our community engagement we held a successful joint event with Chesterfield Symphony Orchestra as well as providing concerts at different local venues, including the local library as part of their concert season, and taken part in community event days. 3. Strengthen Community Engagement and Partnerships: We are a partner of Derbyshire Music Hub. Community partnerships have progressed as set out above. The number of regular volunteers has increased. 4. Improve Financial Health and Sustainability: The donations received this year exceeded our expectations and we sincerely thank our generous donorswhohavehelped to put us ona |
|---|---|---|
| firm financial footing, but have importantly also enabled us to try new groups (running these at a financial loss) in order to encourage beginners; part funded rare instrument lessons; bursaries. 5. Upgrade Facilities and Equipment: Through the donation of instruments and remaining finance from North East Derbyshire Music Centre we have a wide range of instruments to be loaned to students. Many instruments required repair and servicing, and this work continues. |
