Mental Health World Cup

Report of the trustees covering the period 29/11/2023 to 30/08/2024

Charity no: 1205965

Objectives and Activities

Our main purpose continues to be promoting and protecting the physical and mental health of persons at risk of suicide and mental health conditions by making grants to mental health and suicide prevention charities.

Our activities led to over £200,000 being raised through the Mental Health World Cup event at QPR. This consisted of corporate sponsorship and public fundraising via the justgiving.com platform. For the public benefit, over 1,500 people were in attendance either participating or spectating.

We confirm that the trustees have regarded the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

The main achievements of the charity were raising over £200,000 for mental health. The 400 participants took part in over 150 matches on the day, and we had over 1,000 people spectating. Through the promotion of the event, the physical benefits of being involved and the money raised, we feel we’ve delivered on our purpose for the public benefit.

Financial Review

Total receipts on unrestricted funds were £78,412 for the year. The generation of funds was predominantly through the sale of Sponsorship packages (69%), Auction (18%), with the remainder coming from ticket sales (13%) on the day of the event.

Receipts generated throughout the year are key to help facilitate the running of the event with costs amounting to (38%) of our unrestricted funds.

The majority of net proceeds are divided and donated to our chosen charities once the event has concluded and all receipts and payments have been processed.

This year we are pleased to report that (61%) of unrestricted funds were donated to our chosen charities.

Reserves Policy

It is our policy to maintain a balance on unrestricted funds (if possible) of £1,500 at the year end. This helps to cover the small operational expenses of the charity.

The balance of £1,780 held on unrestricted funds at the close of the financial year exceeded this target by £280.
