Report on Charitable Activities

This has been a quieter year for Taking the Lead Charity due to personal demands on the trustees. Despite this, we are pleased to report meaningful progress in fulfilling our charitable objectives.

Through the generosity of our supporters—including community dog shows organised by TPL Dog Training and Danesford Dog Training, online donations via JustGiving, private donations, and a grant from the Co-op Community Fund—the charity successfully raised sufficient funds to purchase two Labrador puppies.

Puppies Purchased

Using the funds raised during this financial year, two Labrador puppies— Che and Petra —were purchased in June 2025 at a cost of £1,200 each. They have now commenced their training at HMP Fosseway as part of the Restart Dogs canine-assisted rehabilitation programme.

Both puppies are making excellent progress and, upon completion of their 18-month training journey, are destined to become assistance dogs for Bravehound, a charity supporting Armed Forces veterans in Scotland.

Achievement

While activity levels were reduced this year, the ability to fund two future assistance dogs represents a significant achievement and demonstrates the ongoing impact of the charity's work in supporting both veterans and prisoner rehabilitation.

Looking Ahead

The trustees remain committed to the charity's mission and look forward to resuming fuller activities when circumstances allow.
