charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider

Para 1.20 The first organisation in Grenada our
grants have supported is GRENED
(www.grened.net). GRENED provides
funds to families of schoolchildren, for
school meals, transport, school
clothing, and books, and runs weekend
programmes, including public speaking
and community service. They normally
support 20-25 students at one time; with
our 2024 grant they were able to
support 50.
A bursary programme was set up with
the University of the West Indies to pay
undergraduate course fees for 4
nominated students for a year. The first
grant will support students who will
begin their courses in August 2025.

Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 This reporting period is our first since
establishing the charity. Our objectives
in the first year were to engage donors
and establish an income stream through
donations, and build relationships with
Grenadian educational organisations.
We have achieved both of these and
helped 25 Grenadian families with
school costs and helped 25 children to
take part in the GRENED weekend
programme.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 We did not have a fundraising target for
this reporting period. We have received
donations above our expectations, in
particular our steady income from
standing orders is more than we
anticipated.
Investment performance

Appendix l- Grant making policy Feb 2024

Grant-making policy Trevelyan Grenada Reparations Fund February 2024

The objective of our charity is to advance education in Grenada, for the public benefit. We make small, targeted grants to charities or charitable organizations in Grenada. Since illiteracy was a legacy of enslavement after emancipation, and the trustees are descendants of those who enslaved Africans in Grenada, this charity has a clear mandate to assist Grenadians with their education at all levels - from pre-school through to mature students wishing to undertake tertiary study.

The Trustees will make discretionary grants where they believe that their contribution will make a real difference to education in Grenada . What follows is principles and process the Trustees will use when making grants.

Applications are taken all year round and from all parishes in Grenada. Applications are assessed once received. Applications can be made by emailing a two-page (maximum) letter to the Trustees at trevelyangrenadareparaons@gmail.com detailing what the organisation is and what the grant would be spent on.

The criteria used in assessing applications are as follows:

1. Organisation structure

Applications will only be considered from non-governmental organisations in Grenada.

2. Organisation beneficiaries

Grants will be awarded to organizations with a clear mandate to advance education for the people of Grenada.

3. Grant purposes, sizes and restrictions

a. Categories

Applications must be for charitable purposes that fall into one of the five core categories below.

b. Grant size

The minimum grant size is £2,500. Awards of more than £7,500 are rare. Grants are usually made as single payments.

c. Restrictions

There are no restrictions on the type of funding for which applicants may apply, and Trustees will consider contributions towards core costs and capital works as well as specific projects.

4. Decision making

Applicants must submit sufficient detail to allow trustees to identify and assess risks and carry out due diligence which will be proportional to the size of the grant. Applicants may be asked to provide further detail to enable decision making.

5. Reporting

A follow-up report, the scale of which is commensurate with the size of the grant, is expected within 10 months of payment. Details will be provided to successful applicants.
