The service provides a tespoke. bilingual, affordable service vthich is accessible to people living across PeMbrokeShi. It provides opportunities for people to engage in age-appropriate acttvities, helping to maintain skills. increasing self•Confiden. irKlependence, improving mental and physical wellbeing, reducing social isolation, to feel part of their communty and enabling them to continue enjoying lrfe to the best of their abilty. The day activiiies are WOVKl8d to meet the needs and wishes of people living with young onset dementia, such as trips out and atQLrt, walking, swimming. playing golf, coast steenng and indoor activities such as bocaa, cookery, quizzes, singing, dancing, arts, and crafts. Physical aCINeS support the Maintenan of healthy lrfestyies as well as recognising the strengths of the group members (physically fft and ab) as opposed to highlights'ng any deficrts (cognitive function). Many people affected by the condition do not know anyone one else In their situation and often feel very isolaled. The da servi rovides o rtunities for oun er
people to meet others in a comparable situation and to access peer support. The same feeling of isolation is frequently fe by their partners, younger and exterKled family Tnembers The service provides a support group for family members and Garers including access to free counselling rf required. Supporting the family and carers is essential to enable them to continue their caring role whilsl not having a negatwe impact on their physical and mental wellbeing. For carers. the service provides 5 hours of respite each week. Whith enables them to leave their loved ones in a safe and happy environment knowing that they can go off and do whatever they want. rest, catch up with housework, Shopping, activitses, meet friends, atterKJ peer support groups etG. For many this is the only time that they have to themselves. Many carers do not tske care of their own physical and mental health, not attending medical appointments, eye tests, dental appointments owing to not being abl8 to leave their cared for. This service enables carers to have the time to take care of their YlIbeIng. Enabling carers to Continue their caring role and prevent them from reathing cnsis point. The day service is held ev8ry Wednesday 10am to 3pm at Uzmaston Hall, Ha¥erfOre$t. The charity commissions Quayside Care Ltd to the run the service. Quayside Care Ltd are registered with CSSIW and the staff are abl8 to provide personal care and give medication if required. Achievements and Perfomiance Through cowoduction a bespoke day setvice is now successfully running in Pembrokeshire. The Seie8 provides 6,000 hours of support per year. {5 hours a week for each of the 12 people with dements'a and 5 hours per week resprte for the 12+ family members 1 carers). Summary ofthe main achievements of the charity. identifying the drfference the Gharity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wmler benefits to society as a whole. Independent Examlnerfs Report to the Trustees of Pembrokeshlre Young Onset Dementta I report on the accounts of the charity for the year end 2nd of October 2024 Respective responsibilities of trustees and examlner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation ofthe accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment {Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts Iscotlandl Regulations 20061as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 1011) (a) to (c) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under seciion 44(11 (c) of the Art and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basls of Independent eyamlnees ststement My examlnation is carried out In accordance with RegulatSon 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a compari50n of the accounts presented with those records.
