Chair’s report:

This year has seen excellent progress in securing the foundations of the youth-led approach that Powered By Youth will continue to be built upon. As chair, I would like to commend the work of the youth steering group and the founders in all that this year entailed.

1. Structure, governance and management:

Type of governing document
(eg. trust deed, constitution)
Constitution agreed by all trustees
on 6thSeptember 2023
How the charity is constituted
(eg. trust, association, company)
A Charitable Incorporated
Organisation
Trustee selection methods
(eg. appointed by, elected by)
Appointed by Poppy Sargeaunt
and Laura Busby (founders)

Additional governance issues

Our Powered By Youth Trustee’s met once between 31[st] March 2024 to 31[st] March 2025 although our founders met more regularly. This year was again a slow year for the charity as the founders personal circumstances meant development of Powered By Youth’s work was minimal.

A youth steering group was set up to ensure youth voices are threaded through the charities work and decision making; looking at different areas including a logo, branding, website etc as well as developing policies and systems.

2. Objectives and activities

Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
To act as a resource for young
people who are neurodiverse, or
have characteristics linked to
neurodiversity up to the age of 25
living in Bournemouth, Poole,
Christchurch and surrounding
areas by providing advice and
assistance and organising
programmes as a means of
individual development:
(a) advancing in life and helping
young people by developing their
skills, capacities and capabilities
to enable them to participate in
society as independent, mature
and responsible individuals; (b)
advancing education; both
individually and in the community.
(c) relieving unemployment;
(d) providing recreational and
leisure time activities in the
interests of social welfare for
people living in the area of benefit
who have need by reason of their
youth, age, infirmity or disability,
poverty or social and economic
circumstances with a view to
improving the conditions of life of
suchpersons.
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects
On a monthly basis we ran a youth
session for Neurodivergent Young
People aged 14-25 years where we
focused on developing a range of
skills including:
-
Team Work
-
Problem Solving
-
Resilience
-
Communication Skills
-
Citizenship Skills
-
Life Skills
-
IT Skills
Time was spent delivering lots of
team building activities with our
youth steering group. A local
church kindly gifted us use of their
building for our monthly meetings
where young people began
getting involved in the running of
the charity from planning youth
sessions, to designing publicity
materials and social media.
