We have been invited to sit on Multi-agency flood mitigation group. Now considered the group for agencies to contact for information with respect to flooding in Witney and the River Windrush.

For the benefit of the community the preservation of human life and
property by working with other state holders to preserve, maintain,
restore, and/or improve flood defences and flood protection measures
and flood damage in the area of Witney, Oxfordshire
Established working relationship with all parties (Environment Agency
(EA), Oxfordshire County Council (OCC), West Oxfordshire District
Council (WODC), Witney Town Council (WTC) ). Invited to sit on Multi-
agency flood mitigation group. Now considered the group for agencies to
contact for information with respect to flooding in Witney and the river
Windrush.
Commented on various WODC planning applications which had a
potential to worsen flooding in Witney.
Created a business case (mid 2023) and obtained funding (Feb 2024) to
implement a River Sensor Network in seven key locations on the River
Windrush throughout Witney.

https://witneyfloodgroup.co.uk which is now live.
Invited by OCC as Lead Local Flood Authority to be the first pilot of
setting up a group of Flood Wardens to be points of contact for Witney
residents with respect to flooding issues and the formation of local
emergency plans. Group is now established with seven members.
Presented and Exhibited at Witney Waterways Day.
Pressed the Environment Agency to maintain the River Windrush
appropriately and also to carry out a river survey.
All the above support our aims and objectives in being a pressure group
for appropriate flood mitigation measures to be introduced in Witney.

We will be seeking to obtain Brief statement of the funding so we can employ hydrologist expertise to comment on planning charity’s policy on reserves applications.
