Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
During the year we completed our move into these new premises and held our Grand opening in November 2024.
We did projects for a number of local organisations - The Good Story (Ukrainian Cafe in St Leonards Road), All Saints Primary School in Sidley, Pebsham Community Centre and Battle Abbey Prep School, amongst others.
We attended numerous events both to recruit members and sell items made by members - Bexhill Street Markets, Bexhill Horse Show, Bexhill 100 Car Show, and the Christmas Lights switch on.
-
Bexhill NHS PCN event at the DLWP
-
Apprentice & Recruitment Fair at the DLWP
Funding the operations of the Shed remained a constant issue we need to raise about £43,000 per year to cover our costs. Our annual membership fee, the day charge, and now what we can reclaim under the various Gift Aid Options covers about a quarter of these costs.
Thanks to Debbie’s help we have been able to secure grants and funding from several sources, significant ones being: -
-
The National lottery Community Fund £20,000
-
Garfield Weston Foundation £5,000
-
++ 25,000 as per accounts
- DONATIONS (over £250):
- Colours £4,000

++ £8,100 out of £22,003
As well as many smaller amounts from both companies and individuals in both cash and materials terms
At the last AGM and on the minutes of that meeting the issue of communications and regular meetings was raised. Since that time, we have held regular monthly management meetings, produced Newsletters. and, in the Survey, shown in the link for January's Newsletter and in the invite to this AGM we believe we have improved this situation.
Currently email is the only way we communicate, and we have about 20 Members who do not have, or do not want to give out, their email addresses so it will always be an issue. However, with the Noticeboards around the Shed we are endeavouring to cover all bases.
