Activities
Based in the Groves area of the Guildhall Ward in the city of York, established in 1969 as a youth centre, the charity develops and supports a range of projects in the local community for young people, adults with additional learning needs, and the community in York.
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:1) To Help Young People, Especially But Not Exclusively Through Leisuretime Activities, So As To Develop Their Capabilities That They May Grow Tofull Maturity As Individuals And Members Of Society; And2) To Promote For The Benefit Of The Inhabitants Of York And Thesurrounding Area Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Race Or Ofpolitical, Religious Or Other Opinions, By Associating Together The Saidinhabitants And The Local Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations Ina Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In Theinterests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Other Leisure Timeoccupations With The Objects Of Improving The Conditions Of Life Of The Saidinhabitants.nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For Thepurposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With [section 7 Of The Charities Andtrustee Investment (scotland) Act 2005] And [section 2 Of The Charities Act (northernireland) 2008].
