05[TH] APRIL 2024

The trustees are pleased to present their report, together with the independently examined financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2024.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK (effective 1 January 2015) (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102), the Companies Act 2006 and the Charity's memorandum and articles of association .

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the charity is to advance, support and promote the study and understanding of the Sunni Islamic faith and its intellectual traditions in accordance with its major theological schools, so as to bring it into conversation with the circumstances of modernity with the aim of fostering and developing religious and societal tolerance and understanding, through:

Financial review

The charity received donations and gifts during the period totalling £119,373 the total income for the charity for the financial period was £119,373.

Expenditure for the period totalled £30,355 including £28,855 of charitable activities and £1,500 of governance costs, resulting in a surplus of £89,019.

The charity’s policy aims to hold no less than three months of unrestricted funding in reserve. Given a difficult economical situation, the charity currently has no reserves and any shortfalls are continuously covered by a related party until a desirable level of external funding is achieved.

The charity’s ability to develop further is dependent on its ability to develop a diverse funding base and much work is underway to build this. The Trustees are aware of the charity’s financial position at year end; the Trustees are satisfied with current financial position as at 05 April 2024 and continue to monitor it closely.

1 Accounting policies

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and follow the recommendations of Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting by Charities (SORP).

a) Convention

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

The principal accounting policies which the trustees have adopted within that convention are set out below.

b) Depreciation

Depreciation is charged on a reduced balance basis, to write off the assets over their expected useful lives as follows.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF GLOBAL HEALTH FILM INITIATIVE

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Global Health Film (the charity) for the year ended 05[th] April 2024 which are set out on pages 4 to 7.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The trustees (and also its directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act).

Having satisfied myself that the financial statements of the charity are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s financial statements carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act). In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by the Charities Act 2011; or

  2. the financial statements do not accord with those records; or

  3. the financial statements do not comply with the accounting requirements of SORPS and Charities Act 2011 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

  4. the financial statements have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
