Objectives and Activities
SORP reference Summary of the purposes of Para 1.17 To enhance the development and education of the charity as set out in its children in Wales, for the public benefit, by governing document encouraging parents to understand and provide for their needs through high quality childcare provision. Summary of the main Para 1.17 and Education 1.19 activities in relation to those Hopscotch has continued to provide a purposes for the public consistently high standard of care and benefit, in particular, the education to local preschool children (as activities, projects or recognised by mandatory inspections and services identified in the adherence to policies). Preparing children for accounts. the transition to school and supporting parents in home learning. Family members have access to staff to discuss issues informally and can be offered advice and support at these times or during formal reviews of their child’s progression. Access to All The nursery aims to keep fees as low as practically possible to ensure the nursery is accessible to as many families as possible. We aim to include children with additional needs and liaise with other professionals, e.g. speech and language therapy to ensure inclusion and that developmental needs are met.
Young Persons Health Hopscotch has completed the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school Scheme. Offering Work Based Training The nursery currently employs 8 staff. We now have 3 members of staff qualified to Level 5, 3 member of staffs qualified to Level 3 and 1 qualified to Level 2 (with level 3 underway). All staff are regularly provided with relevant training to further their professional development. All statutory training is completed in accordance with the National
| Minimum Standards and Childminding and Day Care Regulatons. The group also works with local colleges to ofer placements for students where requested. Environmental The group contnues to have a focus on environmental issues, working with the RHS and the Healthy and Sustainable Pre-school scheme. It is hoped that this area of educaton will provide the children with the skills and knowledge that will impact on their whole lives. |

Para 1.20 | Summer Term Summer term saw the start of transiton actvites for the pre-school group. Staf also met with the recepton teacher to share informaton. Pre-school children took part in sports day and the provision of refreshments for this raised some fundraising. Summer photos were also taken to help with fundraising actvites. Assessments were completed on the children prior to their startng primary school . |

The surplus balance also includes any unspent EYDG or EIG money as part of our Early Educaton contract with Monmouthshire County Council. |

The majority of funding for Hopscotch Nursery comes from Early Years funding grants and fees payable by parents, some of whom are eligible for the Childcare Ofer for Wales (who we are additonally contracted with). The nursery is also commited to fundraising to further its objectves and to keep fees to a minimum. |

Para 1.46 | Income fuctuates with the number of children atending the nursery. Meetngs are held with the commitee as well as the nursery staf, to decide on the best use of how money is spent to support the children’s development. Most expenditure is staf costs which is the backbone of achieving the charity’s aims. Other expenditure is on educatonal resources and play equipment. |

The nursery is in the grounds of Gilwern Primary School, enabling close links. There is a licence agreement to enable the use of the demountable building in which the nursery is situated. The wider network includes the Educaton Achievement Service (EAS) and Early Years Wales. The associaton employs 8 staf members. Senior staf liaise with these organisatons to ensure a consistently high standard of educaton and care is provided, and to ensure the appropriate adherence to guidelines and to scrutnise the educatonal, social, legal and health aspects which are mandatory. The main area of risk is that we work with children. Policies are in place in line with CIW guidelines, Early Years Wales advice and Monmouthshire LEA safeguarding to ensure the safety of the children. All staf and students are DBS checked, and must provide 2 writen references. The nursery staf are paid in line with their employment contracts which are reviewed on a yearly basis. Commitee members work on a voluntary basis with no renumeraton, except for any expenses properly incurred on behalf of the associaton. |
